Originally designed in 1933, Plough anchors have been proven all over the world providing the best holding in the widest variety of weather and seabed conditions. The Plough's versatility and holding power in most circumstances will out perform all other types of traditional anchors if set correctly. Manson began manufacturing the Plough anchor in 1977 and the Manson Plough has now become Australasia's anchor of choice - synonymous with safe anchoring. It's built tough to withstand the rigours of the southern ocean, it's respected as the ideal all purpose anchor.
The Manson Plough Anchor is certified to Lloyd's Register as a High Holding Power anchor (HHP). This process involves design approval of the anchor drawings, extreme scrutinising of the manufacturing process and finally, seabed testing of the anchor in three different soil substrates. Its hinged shank improves the scope of movement of chain, and a weighted tip delivers a secure hold in sand, weeds and mud. Forged and comes in 316 polished stainless steel finish.

Choosing the Correct D-Shackle Size:
When buying an anchor for your boat, you will need the appropriate D-Shackle to connect the rope and chain to your anchor. The recommended D-Shackle size for connecting your anchor to your chain is to get the next size up from your chain size. So if the chain is 6mm then an 8mm D-shackle is recommended. If it's a 7mm chain then an 8mm or 9mm D-shackle is recommended, etc.
