This transom-mount model has a kick-up bracket for protection against impact with debris and obstructions. These transom mount transducers are the most popular, and are generally the easiest to install. The Skimmer transducer design performs best when it is slightly below the boat's hull.

Had an older model eagle combo that I removed from my boat when upgrading. Ended up losing the transducer for it. Ordered this one chucked the unit and transducer on my kayak. Saved my bacon on the first trip out. Was planing on fishing the wash but the swell wouldn’t allow that so headed out over the sand.
Allowed me to mark fish and repeat my drifts, it was a very small patch of fish I wouldn’t of found without the sounder, and would of struggled to find again without the gps
