The Reel
If you're looking for a near-top end performance reel without the high price tag, the Shimano SpeedMaster LD II 8 2-Speed Overhead Reel is a great choice. Its rigid, single-piece Hagane Concept frame and gears ensure your efforts are directed into cranking power - fighting fish rather than against any torque. The reel's smooth operation is assisted by four S-ARB bearings that are shielded from water ingress. Two-speed gearing enables you to quickly retrieve your bait or lures using the higher gear ratio. And when a big fish is hooked and you need to have a powerful retrieve to get the stubborn fish in, simply use the lower gear. On top of all this, the compact Shimano SpeedMaster LD II 8 2-Speed Overhead Reel can also be cast, making it a multi-purpose reel that will slot right in to a number of offshore fishing scenarios. HAGANE Body
Hagane Body means this reel has a high rigidity and zero twist. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminate body flexing. The result transforms the angler's actions directly into cranking power. It's efficiency through strength.
2 Speed Gearing
This mechanism is designed so that gear changes are quick and easy, even when fighting a fish. The low gear ratio used for high-power retrieves is selected by pushing the button on the base of the handle. Return to the high-speed ratio by sliding the release button along the handle shank. By using two sets of gears, the drive and pinion gears are always engaged. There is no gear meshing during the shift.
S-compact body
A compact body is a reel with a smaller body than usual, when you compare it to the line capacity of an equivalent model. This design reduces weight and allow for better grip and leverage while fighting a fish.
