The Reel
The Shimano Grappler 300HG Baitcaster Reel is now available in New Zealand fresh from the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) catalogue. It's hand-picked specifically for inshore metal jigging.
At the heart of the Shimano Grappler's features are X-Ship for enhanced cranking power, Hagane Body for a strong and more rigid frame, S3D to reduced side-to-side spool wobble when casting and an impressive 6.2:1 retrieval meaning less time winding up and more time fishing.
The Rod
The Shimano Ocea Jigger Motive B610-3 Overhead Slow Jig Rod is made with sensitivity and control in mind. The concept of slow jigging, is to have an elastic rod that can control the jig in the water, whilst maintaining sensitivity, so that you can feel the slightest bite when the jig is being worked. The OCEA Jigger utilises Hi-Power X, Spiral X core and Nano pitch resulting to one of the lightest, most sensitive and balanced slow jigging rods Shimano has ever created.
Hi-Power X
Hi-Power X provides accuracy in rod action through strength. It provides an ideally accurate rod curve. Hi-Power X prevents rods from twisting when casting and fighting by tightening up Spiral X construction or traditional rod construction with spiralled X-shape Infinity carbon tape. Hi-Power X enables quickness and sharpness in rod action, producing the best blank performance.
Spiral X Construction
Spiral X Construction uses three layers: a blank made of vertical fibres, an inner layer and an outer layer. With the Spiral X construction process carbon is spirally wrapped in extremely tight coils, both inside and outside of the blank. By using the carbon tape in place of a conventional horizontal fibre sheet, Spiral X achieves enhances tensional rigidity, increases overall performance and reduces blank twist or torsion, without adding extra weight.
