The Reel
Building on the foundations of Nasci FC, the new Shimano Miravel 4000 XG Spinning Reel utilises a CI4+ body and sideplate for significant weight reductions. Cold-forged HAGANE Gear reel technology provides unparalleled gear durability. With premium performance at the forefront of design, Miravel features Silent Drive - the same technology found in Shimano's flagship Stella range. This technology translates into smoother operation due to finer gear tolerances, less vibration and improved longevity.
Purpose-built for finesse fishing in both freshwater and inshore saltwater environments, Shimano Miravel 4000 XG Spinning Reel is backed by CoreProtect water repellent technology which increases durability and water resistance without creating a heavy winding feeling. Additionally, a screw in handle design has been adopted for added strength and convenience. Fish confidently with Miravel in hand, the newest member of the family is ready for the challenge.
CI4+
CI4+ is an advanced version of the original CI4. This highly technical material is 2.5 times stiffer than CI4 and is used on many high-end Shimano reels to increase weight savings. Use of CI4+ for the body and rotor also delivers remarkable stiffness for better reel efficiency.
HAGANE Gear
The HAGANE Drive Gear is produced by Shimano's cold forging technology, without the need for additional machining. This delivers long lasting smoothness, strength, lightness and power at the very heart of the reel. Traditional diecast, machined gears are less durable under heavy loads.
Silent Drive
Removed 'clicking' sound and 'handle play' and overall improved smooth reeling.
AR-C Spool
Shimano ARC Spool is a patented spool design with an angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer, more accurate casts. ARC spools are proven to reduce backlash and wind knots when using braid.
G Free Body
G Free Body technology has been developed to shift the reel's centre of gravity closer to the rod. By moving the centre of gravity closer to your hand position, the G Free Body helps to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort.

The concept of CoreProtect is simple - to provide water resistance without creating a heavy rotation feeling. There are three key areas of the reel the require protection; the roller clutch, the body and the line roller.

Designed to meet the demands of Kiwi anglers, the Shimano Salty Advance S76ML Spinning Soft Bait Rod uses Shimano's TAFTEC technology in the blank, giving it excellent strength and sensitivity. It features Fuji stainless K guides and SiC tip.
TAFTEC
Shimano TAFTEC tips use a pre-stretched T-3500 directional yarn fibre with low resin saturation. This directional alignment of the fibres results in much less damage during the grinding process and results in a spineless construction which tests have shown to be much stronger, lower in weight, faster in action and more sensitive. TAFTEC tips are used where sensitivity is an important requirement of the rod.
Softube Top
Shimano Softube Top provides the sensitivity of an ultra-fine solid carbon tip with the lightness of a hollow construction. Softube Top construction can be found on models where sensitivity and finesse are both important requirements.
