The Reel
Designed to excel at inshore and bluewater applications alike - the Shimano Trinidad 12 A Jigging Reel is unbelievably compact but has all the latest Shimano technologies included. The ultra light weight cold-forged aluminium Magnumlite spool and one-piece side plate and frame feature Electronic Ionisation (EI) surface treatment plus chrome-plated screws for the kind of extreme corrosion protection you need in the saltwater environment. The Trinidad A is rated for mono, fluoro and braided lines.

These spools provide strength and durability over diecast aluminium or graphite spools.
E.I. Anti-Corrosion Surface Treatment
After the adonisation process is finished, a second layer of surface treatment is added. This treatment is forced into the remaining surface impurities. This gives salt no hideout and also results in an extremely smooth-to-the-touch finish. A reel with E.I. treatment has more than double the corrosion resistance of a standard anodised reel.
Super Stopper
Super Stopper uses a one-way bearing that eliminates backplay. This provides the angler with instant hooksetting power.
X-Ship
By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with the S-ARB bearings and integrating bigger drive gear, Shimano increased the gearing efficiency and power. This results in a fishing reel with ultra-light handle rotation; less effort and power giving a perfect rotation even under heavy loads.
The Rod
The Shimano Grappler Type J B684 Slow Jig Overhead Rod is 6'8'' long - a specific length designed for the taper of the rod to work its magic on the jig. The sensitive tip on the rod allows for good line tension control to cater to changing fishing conditions. And what's more it features both Spiral X and Hi-Power X blank construction for increased strength and less power loss during jerking and fighting.
Spiral X
Spiral X construction consists of three layers: a blank made of vertical fibres, an inner layer and an outer layer, both comprising of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions. By using this carbon tape in place of a conventional horizontal fibre sheet, Spiral X achieves enhanced torsional rigidity without adding extra weight. This in turn facilitates instant power transmission for precise casting and for fighting fish. Through its exclusive lightweight structure, Shimano's Spiral X construction enhances your ""catching power"".
Hi-Power X
In Hi-Power X construction, the blank's outermost layer is diagonally wrapped with carbon tape which forms an array of ""X"" shapes. The width of the tape, its winding angle, and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species. The flexibility allows Shimano to adjust these wraps during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction delivers sharp and crisp rod control.
