The Reel
The Shimano SLX 151HG A Baitcaster Reel is a complete redesign of the Shimano Caenan A, now with a significantly smaller body (22%). The SLX has a very ergonomic shape and is perfect for palming the reel in your hand, making it very comfortable to fish with all day long. It's a perfect all-round reel which can be used for all kinds of fishing and would be great for an anglers first baitcasting reel experience. The incredibly smooth maximum drag of 5kg gives the Shimano SLX 151HG A Reel enough strength and power to reel in your trophy fish.

Hagane Body
The Hagane Body is produced from high-rigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rock-solid housing and support for the moving internal gearing and greater efficiency throughout the reel.

S3D Spool
Shimano's S3D technology leads to significantly reduced spool vibration. By designing a balanced and uniform thin wall aluminium constructed spool, S3D creates an incredibly smooth feeling when casting and retrieving lures.

Super Free System
The Super Free bearing supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased freespool.

The Rod
The favourite Backbone series of rods just got an overhaul. The new Shimano Backbone Overhead Baitcaster Rod is now stronger than ever, with a higher quality blank, good quality componentry and a new slick design that is bound to please.

Graphite Blank
Utilising high quality graphite sheets rolled on custom designed mandrels, a sensitive yet extremely lightweight performance fishing blank is created.

Graphite Composite
Rod blanks combining both graphite and fibreglass materials in a particular manner can create a blank with characteristics that are best of both worlds, making a rod that has fibreglass robustness with the power of graphite.
