Bigger, better, bolder
The
Shimano Tranx 200A-HG and Grappler Type J B684 Slow Jig
Combo is specially designed to handle the rigours of
modern slow jigging. The Shimano Tranx 200A-HG reel's components
ensure superior casting while the new Grappler rod takes comfort
and performance to a whole new level.
The Reel
The
Shimano Tranx 200A-HG Baitcast Reel comes from
the Shimano Tranx range, which is the next level in saltwater
proofed baitcaster reels. These reels are designed to go toe-to-toe
with the toughest saltwater and freshwater predators, having been
resized and spec'd up to meet the growing demands of fishos looking
for the next generation in saltwater baitcasters. Especially for
Kiwis, the Tranx is perfectly suited to inshore jigging and lure
casting to pelagics and freshwater species alike.
Hagane Body
The incorporation of Hagane Body provides the Tranx with a rigid
yet highly durable outer shell that is free from body flexing, this
transforms the angler's actions directly into cranking power when
under load.
HEG
Additionally, High Efficiency Gearing (HEG) leverages an enlarged
drive and pinion gear that is further supported by X-Ship for the
ultimate in smooth operation.
X-Ship
X-Ship is a combination of features that work together to create
much greater efficiency. By positioning the pinion gear closest to
the centre line of the large diameter drive gear, more power is
transferred from the handle to the rotor. The pinion gear is also
supported by two Shimano ARB roller bearings, creating more
stability.
S3D Spool
Shimano's S3Da technology leads to significantly reduced spool
vibration. By designing a balanced and uniform thin wall aluminium
constructed spool, S3D creates an incredibly smooth feeling when
casting and retrieving lures.
CoreProtect
Providing unrivalled saltwater protection is CoreProtect, this
unique Shimano technology involves the application of a hydrophobic
spray to key areas of the reel - ensuring bullet proof performance
in all conditions.
AHG Features
Appealing to a range of fishing styles, the AHG models come fitted
with a double paddle handle. Maintaining all of the tough-as-nails
attributes that have earned its larger predecessors a reputation
for reliability in the saltwater market, the new
Shimano
Tranx 200A-HG Baitcast Reel sets-the-bar in-terms of raw
power and performance.
Super Free Spool
The Super Free bearing supported pinion gear system (SF) was
designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast.
In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down
pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft,
creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the
pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is
diengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in precise
alignment. The result is zero frictoon on the spool shaft for
increased freespool.
S-ARB
Shimano S-ARB bearings are high corrosion resistant ARB ball
bearings with an extra shield for improved protection against sand,
salt or dust.
VBS
VBS uses centrifugal forfce rather than magnets to aid controlling
the cast. The individual break weights when turned on, are forced
outward at the beginning of the cast when backlashes most often
occur, causing friction that reduces the speed of the spool. Once
the spool speed begins to slow, the pressure lessens, allowing the
spool to continue spinning. The result is a much more consistent
spool speed that is easier to manage and takes advantage of the
reel's maximum casting distance.
Cross Carbon Drag
This carbon drag material provides a wider range of drag settings,
along with the smoothest Shimano drag performance ever.
The Rod
The
Shimano Grappler Type J B684 Slow Jig Overhead
Rod is 6'8'' long - a specific length designed for the
taper of the rod to work its magic on the jig. The sensitive tip on
the rod allows for good line tension control to cater to changing
fishing conditions. And what's more it features both Spiral X and
Hi-Power X blank construction for increased strength and less power
loss during jerking and fighting.
Spiral X
Spiral X construction consists of three layers: a blank made of
vertical fibres, an inner layer and an outer layer, both comprising
of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite
directions. By using this carbon tape in place of a conventional
horizontal fibre sheet, Spiral X achieves enhanced torsional
rigidity without adding extra weight. This in turn facilitates
instant power transmission for precise casting and for fighting
fish. Through its exclusive lightweight structure, Shimano's Spiral
X construction enhances your "catching power".
Hi-Power X
In Hi-Power X construction, the blank's outermost layer is
diagonally wrapped with carbon tape which forms an array of "X"
shapes. The width of the tape, its winding angle, and the part of
the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish
species. The flexibility allows Shimano to adjust these wraps
during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength
and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction
delivers sharp and crisp rod control.
