The Reel
The new Shimano Genpu XT 200PG Baitcaster Reel is developed to take on a wide variety of boat fishing applications such as Engetsu Slider, Wonderfall Jig, BottomShip and Lucanus fishing. The aim was to engineer a powerful baitcaster reel yet still maintain lightness in the hand and the Shimano Genpu XT family covers the brief without fault. The 200PG comes with a power handle and EVA knob for angler comfort.
Super Free
The Super Free bearing-supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion hear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased freespool.
Shielded Anti-Reverse Bearings
These bearings have been through the same process as the A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearings' rotation.

The Shimano Vortex family features a Power-Carbon blank specially designed to take the knocks, an integrated glass tip so as to retain sensitivity from the bite to the fight, and also enhance overall performance without compromise.
These features allow Kiwi anglers to take full advantage of the more traditional bait fishing techniques including the perfect match for the Shimano Baitrunner series, surfcasting options, landbased rock fishing, straylining with overhead reels and deploying baits in to the benthos for hapuku and the like.

Small, light reel. Smooth action. No issues with the reel itself.
Drops a * because the power knod is poor. Too big, 40mm and too smooth and with wet hands hard to grip.
Am replacing the knob with another one and it will then be fine.
