The Reel
The new Shimano Genpu XT 201PG Left Hand Baitcaster Reel is developed to take on a wide variety of boat fishing applications such as Engetsu Slider, Wonderfall Jig, BottomShip and Lucanus fishing. The aim was to engineer a powerful baitcaster reel yet still maintain lightness in the hand and the Shimano Genpu XT family covers the brief without fault. The 200PG comes with a power handle and EVA knob for angler comfort.
Super Free
The Super Free bearing-supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion hear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased freespool.
Shielded Anti-Reverse Bearings
These bearings have been through the same process as the A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearings' rotation.
The Rod
Designed to meet the demands of Kiwi anglers, the Shimano Salty Advance Tairaba B69MH-S Baitcaster Rod utilises Shimano's proprietary TAFTEC technology in the blank, giving it excellent sensitivity and feel, whist also being robust. It features Fuji stainless K guides and SiC tip.
TAFTEC
Shimano TAFTEC tips utilise a pre-stretched T-3500 directional yarn fibre with low resin saturation. This directional alignment of the fibres results in much less damage during the grinding process and results in a spineless construction which tests have shown to be much stronger, lower in weight, faster in action and more sensitive. TAFTEC tips are used where sensitivity is an important requirement of the rod.
Softube Top
Shimano Softube Top provides the sensitivity of an ultra-fine solid carbon tip with the lightness of a hollow construction. Softube Top construction can be found on models where sensitivity and finesse are both important requirements. The smooth, seamless action of Softube Top offers the angler an unrivalled experience for bite detection and fish-playing performance.
