The Shimano SLX 150 HG Maikuro II Baitcaster Combo takes the versatility of the Shimano SLX 150 HG Bait Casting Reel and pairs it with the strength and reliability of the new Shimano Maikuro II Casting Rod. Its balanced design enhances performance so you can catch more fish at greater distances.

The Reel
Inside the Shimano SLX 150 HG Baitcaster Reel Hagane Body, brass gearing delivers reliable cranking power and three SUS bearings and one roller bearing means everything turns smoothly. The reel incorporates a compact design, however the reel has the same line capacity as Shimano's standard 150 sized reels, fitting 150m of 20lb Power Pro. A longer 45mm Throw Handle working in conjunction with two model options featuring gear ratios of 7.2:1 means that the slow and methodical lure worker and the angler who likes a bit of speed are well covered by the new SLX. On top of this, the Shimano SLX 150 HG Baitcaster Reel's max drag settings of 5kg provide some amazing stopping power should it be needed!

VBS
VBS uses centrifugal force rather than magnets to aid in controlling the cast. The individual brake weights, when turned on, are forced outward at the beginning of the cast when backlashes most often occur, causing friction that reduces the speed of the spool. Once the spool speed begins to slow, the pressure lessens, allowing the spool to continue spinning. The result is a much more consistent spool speed that is easier t manage and takes advantage of the reel's maximum casting distance.

Hagane Body
The Hagane Body is produced from high rigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rock solid housing and support of the moving internal gearing and greater efficiency throughout the reel.

The Rod
The new Shimano Maikuro II Casting Rod features a sleek, modern design with a matt black finish, white, silver and black trims, and butt configurations utilising Sea Guide carbon hooded reel seat. A combination of cork and EVA grips were selected for the best transmission of bites. Thanks to the highly responsive graphite blank, this rod can be used for targetting freshwater fish such as Trout and even heavier coastal and reef dwellers.
