The Reel
Shimano's state-of-the art HAGANE Gear technology lies at the heart of the redesigned Shimano 23 Sedona FJ 4000XG Spinning Reel. Incorporating HAGANE cold-forging technology into the Sedona FJ gives it a step up from other reels in its class and provides long-lasting smoothness and durability for assured resilience even after countless battles with your target species. The Sedona FJ series now features Shimano's SilentDrive technology to remove unnecessary noise and vibration while creating a quieter and smoother reeling experience. The enhanced spool design features Propulsion Line Management System for increased casting performance, while G-Free Body technology shifts the reel's centre of gravity closer to the rod for better balance and less fatigue during long days on the water.
HAGANE Body
The HAGANE Body is a metal reel body with high rigidity. The body rigidity and impact resistance virtually eliminate body flexing on the reel while fighting a fish. The result transforms the angler's actions directly into cranking power. It's efficiency through strength.
HAGANE Gear
The HAGANE Drive Gear is produced by Shimano's cold forging technology, without the need for additional machining. This delivers long lasting smoothness, strength, lightness and power at the very heart of the reel. Traditional diecast, machined gears are less durable under heavy loads.
Silent Drive
From the fundamental, whole body design to the most intricate parts of the drive train, including the drive gear, wormshaft, wormshaft pin and wormshaft gear, every piece has been carefully reviewed, and the smallest clearance gaps and wobbles have been eliminated to the highest tolerances.
G Free Body
G Free Body technology has been developed to shift the reel's centre of gravity closer to the rod. By moving the centre of gravity closer to your hand position, the G Free Body helps to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort.
Propulsion Line Management System
New Propulsion spool lip design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip while preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows the line to flow off the spool in smaller loops during the cast which means less slap on the stripper guide.
The Rod
Designed from the ground up by the team at Shimano New Zealand, the Shimano Blackout Heavy Spinning Rod provides the perfect balance between power and ease of use in a sleek black design.
The Blackout features Shimano's innovative T45 construction. The blank is built by rolling graphite tape at a linear 45-degree angle and reinforcing it with two sheets of graphite rolled at opposing angles. This creates a lightweight blank with outstanding recovery and sensitivity. Fuji Alconite guides have been used throughout the build, ensuring the Blackout offers the trouble-free performance expected by experienced lure fisherman. While a Fuji soft-touch reel seat combines with exceptionally comfortable WINN grips to provide the Blackout with a unique feel previously only found in custom built rods.
