The Reel
The newest addition to the Emeraldas family, the light tackle Daiwa 20 Emeraldas X LT 2500S-H Spinning Reel offers the distinctive style you've come to love from the Emeraldas family, with the features needed to excel at Squid fishing of all kinds. The heart of any dedicated Squid reel is the drag and Daiwa's finesse ATD drag system is the epitome of them all. A finely adjustable drag setting will keep the barbs into even the timidest hook sets on a hard running Squid.

The full gamut of LT Concept design principles has been built into this new reel including Tough Digigear design and the more compact LT body design. Truly lightweight and fully functional, the Emeraldas X LT isn't just a Squid reel, excelling at any application where light line and finesse drag capability is important.

ABS Long Cast Spool Technology
Compared to conventional spools, the LC-ABS has been shown to increase the average flight distance by approx. 5% due to its reduced weight and modified shape.

Air-Bail
Daiwa's innovative bail design features a hollow tubular stainless steel bail that delivers maximum rigidity and strength with minimum weight. Featuring a smooth protrusion-free design and construction line easily slides unencumbered along the Air Bail towards the line roller for trouble free line control.

Air-Rotor
Lighter, stronger and more balanced than any rotor system that's come before, 'Air Rotor' delivers a great leap forward in rotor design and function and delivers the ultimate line roller support. Made from Zaion and featuring a redesigned arch that disperses pressure to the lower section of the rotor to reduce stressing and flexing, the design is further enhanced with a hollowed-out construction reducing weight, while increasing reel sensitivity and rotational balance.

Automatic Tournament Drag
Daiwa's Automatic Tournament Drag uses an improved drag grease that exhibits a low viscosity at rest, yet becomes more viscous immediately after drag start up. This reduces initial drag start-up inertia and combined with the structural changes of the ATD Drag System results in a smoother drag from the initial hook up.

Carbon Light Body
An incredibly strong carbon-based composite material, DS5 is lighter and tougher than ordinary graphite, and unlike metal doesn’t corrode.

EVA Knob

The Rod
The new Daiwa Emeraldas 83ML Egi Squid Rod is the ideal all around eging rod, perfect for targeting Squid from both shore and boat. It has sufficient length for making long searching casts, allowing you to cover large areas of water increasing the chance of locating Squid. The powerful lower section enables you to make use of slack line and aggressive jerking techniques, to efficiently manipulate jigs up through the water column and attract nearby squid. While the sensitive tip section will allow you to feel even the faintest of contacts.

High grade carbon materials combined with Braiding X brings high end technology and performance to a rod that is designed for the intermediate angler. Braiding X is a carbon weave placed around key locations in the blank to increase power, this allows for a decrease in blank diameter and a reduction in overall weight. The ultra light Fuji KL guides deliver minimum friction when casting and reduce the chance of tangling - improving casting distance, accuracy and control. Optimised guide placements and reduced guide weight allows you to experience the full action of this purpose built blank.

The Braid
The Daiwa UVF Saltiga Durasensor X8 +Si2 Braid is masterfully crafted in Japan using the latest Daiwa technology to produce a silky smooth, super thin line that’s perfect for a host of fishing scenarios. This 8-weave braided line features Daiwa’s muscle PE fibres for higher abrasion resistance and enhanced durability. Despite its extremely thin diameter, the Saltiga Durasensor X8 is super tough with fibres 4x more abrasion resistant than normal braided lines.

Not all braid coatings are created equal. The latest Daiwa Si2+ silicon coating impregnates the individual fibres rather than coating them for a longer-lasting finish which aids in hydrophobicity and line management.

The Daiwa UVF Saltiga Durasensor X8 +Si2 Braid has been tweaked and perfected to suit a wide range of fishing applications with lighter weight offerings in distinct chartreuse colour. The dark green (every 10m) and dark blue (every 15m) markings aid in bite detection on slack line techniques. These lighter weight sizes from PE #0.6 to #2.0 are available in 200m spools. They’re the perfect size to either topshot 2 smaller spinning reels or to completely fill a standard depth Daiwa spin reel.
