The Reel

Unlike most other jigging reels in the market the Shimano Talica 8 II 2-Speed Jigging Reel features an unbelievable 2-speed retrieve system, something incredibly rare for a reel of this size. Essentially what this means is that you are able to easily change between the high 6.2:1 speed retrieve and the lower 4.1:1 speed retrieve with just a quick flick of a button. The higher retrieve speed is perfect for when you are whipping that jig up in front of the fish and teasing them to bite, then when (not if) they bite and you get a large King that ends up screaming off with your line you are able to easily flick it into the lower gear and start bringing it in with ease. The unique two speed function makes it incredibly easy not only to hook the fish, but to land them as well.

E.I. is used on the spool, frame and sideplate - the most common spots where cancerous corrosion begins. This, coupled with the use of S A-RB (Shielded Anti-Rust Bearings) and drain holes to allow saltwater to escape the reel whether sitting on a shelf or vertically in a rack, gives anglers so much confidence in the reel's durability.
